St. Patty’s Day Punch Out in Ottawa

C1On Friday, March 18, 2016, Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts held Throwdown in O-Town St. Patty’s Day Punch Out. The card, held at St. Anthony’s Banquet Hall in Ottawa featured thirteen Muay Thai and K1 bouts.

The first bout of the evening featured a Welterweight Muay Thai bout with Dalton White of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Eli Faradella of Victory MMA. After three rounds White walked away with a unanimous decision victory.

The second bout of the evening featured a Light Middleweight Muay Thai bout between Zach Last of Zendragon against Chris Essembrire of N-1 Thaiboxing. After three rounds, Last earned a victory through split decision.

The third bout of the evening featured a Bantamweight Muay Thai bout between Daniel Vidalista of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Darren Luistro of Pound 4 Pound MMA. Vidalista was able to earn the victory after three round by majority decision.

The fourth fight of the evening featured a Light Welterweight Muay Thai rules bout between Karl Jakel of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Mike Carverino of Xtreme Couture. After three rounds Carverino earned the unanimous decisions victory.

The fifth fight of the evening featured a women’s Lightweight Muay Thai rules bout between Erin Cochrane of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts and Diane Monge of 5Elements. After three rounds, Cochrane earned the unanimous decision victory.

The sixth bout of the evening featured a Cruiserweight Muay Thai rules bout between Josh Kerr of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts and Phillip Lake of Rivals MMA. After three rounds Kerr walked away with a unanimous decision victory.

The seventh bout of the evening featured a Light Heavyweight Muay Thai rules bout between Mayson Morris of N-1 Thai Boxing against Ryan Beaupre of Xtreme Couture. After three round, Beaupre earned the unanimous decision victory.

The eight bout of the evening featured a Light Welterweight Muay Thai rules bout between Justin Saikeley of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Mikey Abrams of Pound for Pound MMA. After three rounds, the fight was declared a draw. Both fighters should be proud of what they left in the ring in a bout that was too close to call.

The ninth fight of the evening featured a Super Heavyweight K1 rules bout between Aaron Campbell of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Noel Hussey of Oakville Muay Thai. Campbell was able to secure a second round referee stoppage to earn the victory.

The tenth fight of the evening featured a Light Welterweight Muay Thai rules bout between Cole MacInnis of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts against Mark Ramawad of Pound for Pound MMA. After three rounds, MacInnis earned the split decision from a game Ramawad.

The eleventh fight of the evening featured Light Heavyweight Muay Thai rules bout between Kyle Fletcher of Sudbury MMA and Murtaza Nabizadah of Bazooka Kickboxing. After three rounds, Nabizadah earned a unanimous decision victory.

The twelfth fight of the evening, and co-main event, featured a Middleweight Muay Thai rules bout between Matar Lo of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts and Thomas Raby of Caged Dragon MMA. After three round Lo earned the unanimous decision.

The thirteenth fight of the night, and main event for the WKF Ontario K1 Women’s Light Welterweight (132lbs/60kg) title. The bout featured Amy Reid of K1 Kickboxing Academy against Taylor McClatchie of Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts and involved McClatchie putting up her perfect record of 10-0 against Reid’s extensive experience. The bout had highlights for both women, as both fighters displayed a high level of amateur kickboxing. After five rounds, McClatchie earned a unanimous decision victory, overcoming an early deficit to win the later rounds and the title.
